We leave it to you to find out. Your journey starts from either Chur or Davos, continuing to St. Moritz and then crossing the border to historic Tirano in Italy. This remarkable route passes through no fewer than 55 tunnels and crosses 196 bridges as well as the famous circular viaduct of Brusio. It also climbs the 2253-metre Bernina Pass and (after crossing into Italy) passes through the Valtellina Valley. In the summer you can alternatively cross back into Switzerland from Tirano by taking the Bernina Express Bus along Lake Como to Lugano.

Did you know...
that the heraldic coat-of-arms of Graubünden (home canton of the Bernina Express) depicts a mountain goat or ibex? That's why the minibars in the Bernina Express trains feature a lifelike ibex figurehead. Bernina Express trains have no dining car, but the minibar will serve a selection of snacks and drinks at your seat.
